A piano is designed to be tuned to A440 hertz (called concert pitch), so I always tuned to this standard, unless the strings are too old and rusty, for which I will assess and propose a lower pitch to avoid breakages. I look after a number of pianos in museums, private collections and tune for concerts, festivals and films. Apart from music, I have studies in physics and engineering that enables me to provide qualified advice. I have received training at Bechstein's factory, in Germany.
